Gamayun Theatre is an international artist-led theatre company that splices together the East and West of theatre styles, taking inspiration from other cultures to create unique performances and tell stories relevant to the modern multi-cultural societies.

WHAT WE DO:

Established in 2019 by Asya Sosis, a Ukrainian-born international theatre director, Gamayun Theatre is dedicated to telling vivid, other-worldly stories for the modern multi-cultural society.

WHAT IS GAMAYUN:

In Slavic mythology Gamayun is a half-bird half-woman that lives in Heavens and knows all that was, all that is and all that will be. It sometimes descends into the world of humans to sing its beautiful song that brings true happiness to men, or to impart wisdom in the form of a riddle.

Asya was then invited to direct The Crucible in English for Kyiv National Academic Young Theatre (Molodyy Theatre) in Ukraine in 2018, which went on to participate in Pro.Act Fest 2019, an English-language theatre festival in Kyiv, Ukraine, where it had great success.

In 2019 Asya set up Gamayun Theatre, and went on to direct DRAGON, a play by Eugene Schwartz about the tyrannies inside our hearts. During lockdowns in 2020-2021 she worked on The Rubber Merchants, a musical tragic farce about chances not taken.
