Announcing our new and exciting project: Dragon!
Recently we began working on a new show, Russian playwright Eugene Schwartz’s most iconic work “Dragon”.
The story follows one Lancelot, a descendant of the legendary knight, stumbling one day into a town ruled by a tyrannical dragon. Every year this dragon selects the most beautiful woman and takes her to his lair, from which she never returns. Supposedly she dies from abhorrence. This year it is beautiful Elsa’s turn to die for her people, but Lancelot cannot allow such a tragedy. However, to his surprise, the townsfolk are not as eager for their own freedom as he thought they would be.
Written in 1944 in Soviet Russia, this story is still relevant today. This political satire examines the question of responsibility of society for its tyrants, and whether it is possible to love humanity after being exposed to its most horrific failures.
